Part I.Drama critics write reviews of plays to give their opinion of a performance. In one paragraph, write a review of Robert's play for his school newspaper. Use your imagination to fill in the details, but include details from the story, too.
I liked watching "The School Play." The crew did amazing! One member, Robert Sanchez, with one line, described the play as fun, thrilling, and entertaining. We interview him earlier, where he said "Even with one line, I had to practice my saying over and over again." His costar Belinda Lopez, who all the boys think is rude and unpleasant, did a great job being a pioneer women, says their teacher Mrs. Bunin. While watching, I loved the snowflakes in the back round. Elizabeth Stendler interviewed her earlier when she said, "The snowflakes were picked by who did well on their spelling tests. Robert and Belinda did very well, that is how they got such important parts!" Overall this was a great play!
Excellent! I enjoyed how you elaborated on details that were in the story.
2. What message or theme do you think the author is trying to get across in “The School Play”. Write at least two sentences, one to list the theme and one to explain how what happened in the story shows this theme.
This theme was how you can make a great play with someone you might not like. Belinda was mean to Robert, but together they produced a great play!
A theme is a general statement about life. For instance, your idea would be written to say that even people don't like each other, they can work together to make something.
3. Use each of the following vocabulary words in a sentence that relates to the story.
a. depleted
Hi Patti,
I'm just checking in to see if you have had any luck getting a replacement for Wednesday. So far, I haven't heard from anyone, have you?
Maybe you need to make some personal calls to parents. We need to have another adult for insurance purposes. Please let me or Mrs. Broghammer know if you have success. By the way, Kathy Broghammer sent a letter to all parents via email last week and in it, she included her email address.
√ If I were Robert, before the play, I would give Mrs. Bunin a depleted look. To demonstrate understanding of human experiences through identifying social and cultural themes in literary texts
b. smirks
When Belinda looks at Robert, she usually makes a smirky look.
c. quiver
Before the play Robert quivered a little.
d. relentless
Robert was relentless because he could not remember his line.
